Dark Pools and Seagrass
Dark Pools and Seagrass has been boldly executed in a rich palette of teal and burnt sienna. The mesmerising stretch of white sand offers a striking contrast against the luscious, textural oil paint applied to the organic forms of coastal furniture. Distinctive layers of mark-making are very much evident in Matheson’s unique, visual language.
Inverness Framers have sourced a beautiful moulding for this series of work. A bespoke, deep, wooden tray frame which is hand finished by the artist. A reinforcement in the knowledge that this contemporary landscape work is a substantial statement piece.
The canvas stretchers are made with a hardwood: Tulipwood (American Yellow Poplar), known for its suitability for making canvases due to its resistance to warping, its inherent straightness and low emissions and its sustainable production.
