MY U.S.P.
SUPERSOFT CUSHIONS.
Photo shoots are fun. After selecting this new range of cushion designs I needed to find the perfect location to capture the mood of the collection. The Black Isle is a short drive away from the studio so we headed off with all the products, the camera and some sturdy footwear …not all croft houses are by the roadside.
I loved the sea of lilac coloured phacelia, so striking and an immediate choice as a backdrop for ‘Blue Mountain’. Then not much further on we spotted this empty farm cottage which came complete with its very own horseshoe and distressed door. Perfect!
This is the second cushion range I have developed and I love the change of focus from painting to making design decisions. They have been so popular in fact, that the first launch sold out amazingly fast and were captured in the video footage below.
It’s quite hard to shake off those textile days when I studied at Winchester School of Art. But actually, the point is, I shouldn’t be shaking them off. My original artwork has always been described as being full of textures, layers and striking colours. That is the way it will stay, that is the way I work and studying textile design is the reason why - it is my USP.
