GCAS Internship overview

Organisation name: Fiona Matheson Studio

Location: Remote/Hybrid working

Salary: £9.50 per hour

Planned start date: As soon as possible

Planned end date: 6 months after start date

Proposed working hours and pattern: 20-35 hours per week

Closing date: 5pm on 27th June 2022

·       Content – Gain an insight into the process of creating designs from original paintings to use as imagery for branded products.

·       Promotional – Work within key calendar dates and events.

·       Visuals – Formulate ideas for editorial campaigns. Create a look book for use when approaching buyers.

·       Platforms – Input on website blog to coincide with new work, launches, collaborations, and news stories. Co-manage Mailchimp newsletter to subscribers.

·       Social Media – Actively market Fiona Matheson Studio on social accounts: Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, developing #lists, @lists. With focus on innovative ideas for Instagram reels, stories, and posts. Work in line with content launch dates and help with copy for press release.

·       Research – Be encouraged to research trends and forward-thinking ideas for future products through shop reports and market analysis.

·       Meetings – Join meetings with team members to learn how to work together and brainstorm.

Description of organisation and internship purpose

 

Fiona Matheson is an established artist and designer producing contemporary, expressive work which is exhibited widely in the UK. Fiona Matheson Studio aims to position itself as a new, luxury accessory and homeware brand, which delivers on quality and impacts on the offerings for those who want to own a part of Scotland.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in a small business at the starting point of its ambitious plans. Your enthusiasm and passion for retail and the product is key and you’ll be an integral part of the team and take ownership of new campaigns within social platforms, researching trends and generating forward-thinking ideas for future products through shop reports and market analysis.

Main responsibilities

 

·       Gain expertise in the creation and growth of our social media platforms within brand guidelines

·       Develop @lists, #lists, taking the lead by working on innovative ideas for reels, stories, posts, as well as sole creator of the Fiona Matheson Studio account

·       Researching press contacts using PR Dispatch database

·       Respond to monthly PR calendars ensuring cohesion across all PR

·       Pitch to press

·       Input on website blog to coincide with new work, launches, collaborations, and news stories

·       Manage Mailchimp newsletter to subscribers

·       Formulate ideas for editorial campaigns and look-book material

 

Person specification

 

Essential:

·       Applicants must be a member of the GCAS Talent Pool to apply

·       Strong IT skills

·       Excellent visual / branding skills

·       Attention to detail

·       A confident verbal and written communicator

·       Organised and efficient with a can-do approach

·       Flexible approach to work, able to pivot or jump on a task when required
